We heard it was “I Love Horses Day” and we thought it was time to say hello to our favorite BLC theatre horses from “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Did you know Director Pete Bloedel made a whole video about how we made these puppets? Check it out here: https://youtu.be/mXwv_sZ3FCw

Travel back to the summer of 1912 (and February 2017) for our #flashbackfriday of The Music Man! This weekend catch up on your Chaucer, dust off that trombone or cornet, dance the Shipoopi, and maybe stay away from billiards, just in case!

The sewing machines are getting their annual tune up! They’ll come back ready to sew up new costumes in the next school year! Fun Fact: Costume Designer Emily Kimball has given them all names. Can you name them all? (Four other machines are not pictured).

Today is our Read Through! Meet the rest of our cast!

-Sarah Bloedel acted in plays at Bethany when it was still a 2 year school, pictured in The Prisoner of 2nd Avenue. Sarah now works in the Education Department as an Administrative Assistant and she’s a savvy interior designer and artist too!

-Peter Bloedel. Perhaps you recognize the name? He has been teaching and directing in the BLC Theatre for 20+ years. When not at school, he can be found juggling, unicycling, doing magic tricks, writing plays, and playing the banjo & mandolin. Just kidding, he does those things AT school too!

-Ann Fredrickson, no stranger to the stage, first began her performance career in opera and, while not a BLC alum, has contributed vastly to the arts at Bethany. She is usually seen conducting, directing Choraliers productions, or leading the Mary Martha Singers.

-Reece Boucher is now an Admissions Counselor at Bethany and wasn’t onstage here while he was a student...and it saddens us. But we’re thrilled that he’s now a theatre alum by way of marriage to one certain Co-Writer/Fine Arts Coordinator!
More Cast bios! #blctheatre

-Alyssa Inniger is no stranger to the stage! She was last seen on stage in Antigone, The Red Mill, Theatre Physics, and more! Now she is the Director of Library Services, plays viola with the Mankato Symphony Orchestra, and is the proud new flock mama to several dozen chickens, a litter of kittens, two mongrels, and one Benjamin.

-Hans Bloedel was a regular on the stage during his time at Bethany. Always willing to wear any costume piece and rock the color orange, Hans’ experience ranged from peasant with a ukulele (Tell it to the Wind), to medieval peasant (Dr. Faustus), to peddler (Oklahoma), to sidekick (Sleepy Hollow), to English gentleman (Importance of Being Earnest), to Greek God (Women of Troy).

-Rose Shrader transferred to BLC and finished a whole theatre major in 2 years! She performed on stage (seen with her now husband in The Sorcerer) and Hay Fever as the long suffering maid Clara. Her other work was backstage in stage managing, costume work, and lights. Rose used her education and love of the arts while working at the Children’s Museum in town and now she’s a mom to 2 (soon to be 3!) kids!

-Josh Weirschke is a man of many faces and roles! Josh was a member of the BLC Admissions team and while a student here he danced in Oh, Kay (pictured with his now wife Alison!), was ever so aesthetic in Patience, dueled in Romeo and Juliet, and played the often-maligned son Damis (pictured with the flower pot) in Tartuffe, among many others! Josh is currently teaching English as a foreign language online while also a stay-at-home dad for his two daughters!
Congratulations to the Costume Construction class on their final projects and all their work this semester! #blctheatre #costumeconstruction #makingthings #sewing
Follow along for a quick series of introductions, or reintroductions, as we gather in preparation for the Read Through on Wednesday!

-Olivia Lippert now works as an Admissions Counselor & Coordinator of Marketing at BLC. Her time in the theatre was spent acting in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Tell it to the Wind, Theatre Physics, and Women of Troy and designing lights for Kiss me Kate.

-August Jeske played a wide variety of roles while at Bethany. He’s been a Captain twice. First at Captain Hook in Peter Pan, then going legit and helming the HMS Pinafore. He spooked the airwaves in Vintage Hitchcock, told stories and played music in Voice of the Prairie, and was the most famous money-loving miser, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Since graduating, he’s also helped out the department with special prop projects such as the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow!

-Audrey Rundgren was last seen onstage making us laugh in Theatre Physics, Dr Faustus, and Letters to Anne of Green Gables. More often though, she was unseen backstage acting as Wardrobe Supervisor, keeping everyone’s costume neat, mended, and organized. Good thing she and that Ichabod Crane worked things out. They’re getting married this summer!

-Anna Brown has a face you probably recognize. She basically runs the city of North Mankato. But while she was here at BLC, she was the face of the news program! Oh, and she was in Theatre Physics, played Rachel Lynde in Letters to Anne of Green Gables, transformed from a snake into Princess Nyoka in Tell it to the Wind, and launched all those ships as queen Helen of Troy.
There’s another event coming up in the theater this weekend! It’s our friends in the Drumline! Reserve your tickets and we’ll see you there! https://forms.gle/dRNS85dhktVLKMQQ9 #blcmusic
